Chet Hanks has continued to try and prove himself a bigger disappointment to his father than Donald J. Trump with a new anti-vaxxer video that starts out by tricking you into thinking that maybe he finally turned a corner on the topic of COVID-19 before hitting viewers with a big “sike.” He then repeats the same tired talking points that even most other anti-vaxxers and COVID-deniers have given up, calling the illness “the flu” and screaming at the people who catch it to just stay home because he’s tired of wearing masks.

“But with the amount of people I know recently that have gotten COVID, and with the numbers rising, I think it’s important for me to say I got the vaccine—I think everybody should,” says Chet in the video.

“I think it’s really important that we all do this just as citizens, as Americans. We have to look out for each other and get this s–t under control, guys,” he continues. “So I suggest to all my followers, you guys set an appointment and get the vaccine first thing…”
At this point, Chet literally yells “sike” and starts in on his fact-free rant.
“B—h! If it ain’t broke don’t fix it! I never had COVID. You ain’t sticking me with that motherf—ing needle. It’s the motherf—ing flu. Get over it, okay? If you’re sick, stay inside. I’m tired… Why are we working around y’all? If you’re in danger, stay your a– inside. I’m tired of wearing a motherf—ing mask.”
In spite of the minor inconvenience that mask requirements have caused Chet Hanks, rich son of one of the most universally beloved actors of our time, they continue to be necessary due to the fact that the virus is a danger to everyone and becoming more dangerous thanks to people like Chet Hanks. Meanwhile, those who do have compromised immune systems have been unable to simply stay inside because the paltry stimulus checks haven’t exactly covered all of their bills for the past 18 months.
But we don’t expect any of these points to be able to penetrate Chet’s skull after both of his parents had to isolate in 2020 after they contracted the novel coronavirus. Tom Hanks himself went on “The Late Show” last July to tell Stephen Colbert about their experience and express his bafflement over anti-maskers.
“I don’t get it. It’s literally the least you can do,” he said. “The least you can do is wear a cloth or a thing, I mean, I’m wearing bandanas, double layer. Mask and wash your hands and try to stay six feet away from a person.”

“Honestly, if you drive a car, if you think it’s a constitutional right not to use your turn signals, you should use your turn signals because otherwise you might run into somebody or somebody might run into you, right?”
Chet doubled down on his stance in his Instagram stories, writing: “The vaccine should be a choice, not a requirement to perform our basic rights. Yeah I said it! Be as mad as you want IDGAF.”

Rita Wilson, Chet’s mom, also expressed concern that she and her husband could get COVID-19 a second time, which soon proved to be very possible.
Chet has repeatedly proved himself to be an embarrassment to the Hanks name, declaring “white boy summer” earlier this year and getting in trouble in late 2020 for trying out a cringe-inducing Jamaican accent.
