A number of people who somehow ended up on Donald Trump’s campaign mailing list, or signed up for moments like this, received an urgent new offer in their inboxes recently about the updated MAGA hat that the Florida resident claims he personally designed. For a minimum donation of $40, you can get a bright red hat with the acronym “MAGA” printed on the front in large letters embossed in gold, or you could donate any amount of money and earn the chance to win one decorated with Trump’s weird signature.

“I just designed our BRAND NEW MAGA Hat and I want YOU to have it,” the email reads. “You’ve always been one of my most LOYAL supporters, so I don’t want you to have just ANY hat… I want YOU to have the MAGA Hat that I personally HAND-SIGNED for YOU.”
The good news for the rest of us is that it’s going to be easier to spot these hats, so if they become the standard we might no longer have anxiety attacks every time we see someone in a red baseball cap.
This campaign is yet another in a constant barrage of fundraising put on by the Trump campaign as he continues to tour the country and give rallies to crowds of largely unvaccinated people and pretend like he’s going to somehow be reinstated as president. At the same time, when those efforts inevitably fail, he has repeatedly hinted at pursuing a 2024 run to become the first one-term president to secure a second term after losing his re-election bid.
Designers and people with eyes alike have panned the new hat, criticizing the text choice, placement, stitching, and the fact that it’s associated with Donald Trump.
