Twitter Dunks On Ted Cruz After He Shows Support For NBA Players Refusing To Get Vaccinated

Ted Cruz is jumping into controversial topics he thinks can win him points with his anti-vaxxer/anti-masker base, and, as always, is getting appropriately dunked for it.

Everyone’s least favorite senator tweeted out on Wednesday that he stands with four NBA players who are refusing to get vaccinated against COVID-19, choosing instead to put their teammates and everyone else who has to be around them in order to do their jobs at constant risk.

Cruz ended his tweet with the hashtag #YourBodyYourChoice, a sentiment anti-vaxxers have crudely coopted from the pro-choice movement, despite how often those same people don’t believe that pregnant people should have choices about their own bodies — and the fact that refusing a vaccine during a pandemic has the potential to impact far more than just “your body.”

Cruz also simultaneously praised LeBron James for declining to weigh in on the debate and scolded him for not being “courageous” enough to straight up denounce stadiums that are refusing to let unvaccinated players play.

Encouraging people who don’t want to get vaccinated during a pandemic that has lasted nearly two years now is unforgivable in many people’s eyes, and no one was ever going to let Cruz’s comments slide by without comment.

Ted also doesn’t understand communicable diseases or community for that matter. He also thinks guns don’t hurt people.

It’s not surprising that a Republican who previously wanted sports stars to shut up and just play a game rather than ever weigh in on political or social issues suddenly changed his tune at the thought of anyone remotely famous (sorry not sorry Kevin Sorbo) actually being on the same side as him politically. And his supporters clearly don’t care about his constant hypocrisy or inability to actually, truly stand for anything other than himself. But Cruz is still building his own legacy tweet by tweet, and he certainly hasn’t done himself any favors in presenting exactly what kind of man he is, again and again and again.
