A TikToker’s video showing how dogs are transported in the luggage compartment of airplanes is freaking viewers out.

Many pet owners have faced the difficult decision of whether or not to fly with their animals at some point or another. Some small dogs and cats are able to fly underneath the seat in the cabin, but restrictions have made this more difficult recently, with some no longer allowing emotional support animals to fly free and others limiting the number of animals that can be in the cabin, among other restrictions.

What’s left is a spot in the belly of the plane, along with the luggage — a place where dozens of pets die every year.
In an attempt to allay concerns, TikToker @djsugue, who regularly posts videos of his life as a ramp agent, showed viewers how exactly animals who travel in the cargo hold are stored.
His first video addressing this, which has been viewed over seven million times, shows a small dog in his owner-provided crate, strapped in behind a fabric partition away from all the rest of the luggage. The crate door is zip-tied closed to make sure it doesn’t come open mid-flight.
Despite the precautions in place, it still does seem scary to leave your furry friend down there all by himself for the duration of a flight, and @djsugue’s TikTok didn’t ultimately seem to do much to calm those fears.
“I’d put one of my siblings under there before I put my dog,” wrote @andre.johnson12345.
“I could never do this to my dog,” @itsamandzworld agreed. “I’d be crying and throwing up the entire plane ride knowing how lonely and scared he is.”
Another viewer suggested they would “simply drive across the ocean.”
The TikToker posted several more videos showing various dogs getting ready to take a trip.

He also suggested making “sure you put blankets around their cages so that they can stay warm” for anyone who does need to fly with their pets in cargo.
“As a ramp agent myself we love your pets and always make sure they’re okay and safe,” @h03kag3__ commented.
Still, repeated calls for an airline that specifically caters to pet owners and allows for a safer and less stressful way for animals to travel littered the comments of every related video.
“The demand is definitely there,” one viewer observed.
