The so-called trucker convoy that terrorized Ottawa for weeks, demanding an end to all COVID-related mandates and the resignation of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, among other demands, has calmed down in the city as police began to arrest protesters and their finances were cut off by the banks. However, this “movement” is far from over, as anti-vaxx, right-wing truckers and their supporters have begun to cause trouble all across Canada.

Average Canadians, tired of the dramatics and harassment and honking, have taken to fighting back against these people in their own ways, big and small, and counter-protests in every province have produced a number of unlikely heroes across the nation. You may have already heard about the fabled “Ram Ranch Resistance” that hacked into the convoy planners’ communication app and started blaring what has been described as a “porno-metal” song about a ranch full of gay cowboys having a lot of fun into their meetings.

But the counter-protests to the convoy were only getting started, and according to Canadians themselves, have a different flavor depending on the province.

Normal Canadians, as well as their supporters around the world, especially where copycat convoys are being planned or have already happened, are now busy celebrating these heroes for risking their safety and well-being to push back against what has been revealed to be a far-right operation, complete with neo-Nazis. From Ottawa to Toronto to Vancouver, regular folks have been making it known that they are pro-COVID protections and against right-wing insurrections with simple signs or merely their own bodies, standing up to massive trucks and screaming crowds.

The results have been surprisingly effective, which just goes to show you that standing up to bullies works. In no particular order, these are just some of the unlikely Canadian heroes who have captured our hearts:

2. Pot and spoon guy
