Football superstar Tom Brady suddenly announced on Sunday, during what is solidly basketball season, that he is un-retiring from the game in a surprise tweet, to be rejoining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for their next season, citing “unfinished business.”

“These past two months I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands,” he wrote in his tweet announcement. “That time will come. But it’s not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible. I’m coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa. Unfinished business LFG.”

After struggling for two years with a torn MCL and general knee issues, Brady announced his retirement from the game on February 1, following a 22-season career. Spending 20 of those with the New England Patriots, Brady led the team as quarterback to 17 division titles, 13 AFC Championship Games, and six Super Bowl wins out of nine appearances in the championship.

Brady now holds nearly every American football record in the NFL, and like so many before him, the sports legend is having trouble accepting retirement at age 44. Now playing for the Buccaneers, and after leading them to yet another Super Bowl victory to add to his belt in 2020, he wants back in on the action. He did well last season, too, in spite of his age, finishing second in NFL MVP voting for the 2021 season.

Some are overjoyed at the news, some less so, but if you’re hoping for funny reactions, we’ve got ’em.
