What was initially a mediocre joke from Jimmy Kimmel at Marjorie Taylor Greene’s expense has continued snowballing into an ongoing feud between the two, with Matt Gaetz thrown into the mix. And now the late night host is shifting focus to the latter.

The whole thing started when MTG called supporters of Ketanji Brown Jackson, who was undergoing Supreme Court confirmation hearings at the time, “pro-pedophile.” Kimmel reported her words on his show and joked, “Where is Will Smith when you really need him?” referencing the recent Oscar controversy in which he slapped Chris Rock.

Greene reported him to Capitol Police over the joke, Gaetz got involved defending Greene, and they’ve all continued to go back and forth, drawing this out for far too long.
Most recently, Greene and Gaetz appeared on a podcast together and rehashed the drama. Kimmel then played a portion of it on his show Monday night.
“Jimmy Kimmel is a total jerk,” Gaetz said. “And it seems that his trend is to attack women, which is particularly troubling.”
“Says the guy who is currently under federal investigation for sex trafficking, obstructing justice, and paying for sex with a 17-year-old girl,” Kimmel commented. “But keep going. I want to see where this is headed.”
Sure enough, Gaetz elaborated, calling Kimmel’s jokes about Greene and fellow representative Lauren Boebert “highly gendered.”
“Because he’s [saying], oh, you’re a ‘Klan Mom,’ right? So he’s attacking you as a mom and as a woman. And he attacks Lauren Boebert and says, oh, she looks like stepmom porn. See how he does that?” he asked.
“That’s not fair at all. I make jokes about men, too,” Kimmel said on his show. “I made jokes about you, in fact. Remember when I said I feel bad for you because you didn’t have a girlfriend in high school until you were 30? Remember when I said your political background will come in handy when you’re a registered sex offender because you’re used to knocking on strangers’ doors to introduce yourself? Apology accepted, Matt.”
As is so often the case, Greene and Gaetz would be better off quitting while they’re behind, but there’s no doubt Kimmel is going to keep using their newfound obsession with him as joke fodder until they find something else to latch onto. How many jokes will MTG report to Capitol Police? Guess we’ll find out!
