Bigots love making noise. If ever you see someone standing at a random corner with a megaphone and some signs, without a proper demonstration or march in sight, you can just about bet it’s someone screaming about how everyone who doesn’t conform to their exacting standards is going to hell.

Sometimes, the best thing to do with these jerks is ignore them. And we’ve all seen the folks who like to get into it with them, challenging their cruelty or protesting back at them. But there’s also a third option — simply taking away their ability to be loud.
A street preacher in Seattle recently learned the hard way just how easy it is for him to be shut down.

The guy was in the middle of yelling at a bunch of bystanders about how Jesus is returning to “judge the world” when a woman who was sick of his schtick simple walked over, unplugged his amp, and walked away.
The Good Samaritan in question made her exit through traffic, and although the street preacher tried to follow her, it took mere seconds for another bystander to dart into traffic as well and start blocking his path.
It gave the woman ample time to get away with the speaker, walking calmly down the street until she disappeared somewhere near a parking garage. The bigot eventually made it through traffic, toting his giant “ETERNAL LIFE MATTERS” sign, clearly designed to mimic “Black Lives Matter,” but the guy kept blocking him for as long as he could all the same.
The bystander who recorded the interaction seemed to comment at one point that the woman smashed the speaker, but if that happened, it wasn’t caught on video.
Folks on Reddit were eager to share their own experiences encountering similar hate-spewers in the wild.
We have one of these guys in my hometown who stands on a ladder on a busy intersection with a microphone. He isnt the person that worries me, that person is clearly nuts and has a microphone that hes telling me as much with. The person that scares me is the one that pulls over and is like “tell me more, omg youre so right, im gonna change my life based on what a nutjob with a Mr. microphone is yelling into traffic.” What are these peoples success rate in converting people by this tactic???—u/bingold49
Whenever Anime Expo in Los Angeles starts, there are always at least two of them shouting and they annoy me to no end. So im walking and one of them is by the corner of the street and he’s getting verbally roasted by con attendees, “you have less of a life than the people who are at this con” and this guy was like “Yup.”—a-snakey
One time in Portland I saw a tiny little woman run up on a street preacher, grab his bullhorn and start BOOKIN it. He was going on about the gays, the whores, the blah blah blah. Pure gold moment.—u/DeathFromUhBruv

And this one probably takes the win.
I saw this same guy causing problems in Capital Hill last summer. A big crowd gathered around him as he was screaming about Jesus. Just then a dude in the back yells “Did someone call my name?” We all turned around and it was a the most Jesus-looking dude I have ever seen dressed in a white robe and sandals. Jesus said “This man does not speak for me” and then followed Angry Preacher around telling everyone Jesus loved them just the way he made them and hugging people. True Story—u/brainhealth75
