“I’ll Answer It For You”—Jen Psaki Lays Into Peter Doocy For Asking If Biden’s Border Visit Counts As A Visit

Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy gets a lot of positive feedback from his fans and the people who work with him at Fox, which means he forgets that he is ridiculous almost everywhere else. That includes the reporter pool at the White House, where he goes to bother White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki with his questions.

On Friday, Doocy tried to start a fight With Psaki over how recently President Joe Biden visited the southern border. He began by referring to some remarks Biden made at a CNN Town Hall on Thursday night.

“The President said last night…why did President Biden say he has been to the border?” asked Doocy.

“Well, Peter,” Psaki began, voice dripping with condescension. before explaining that Biden was at the border during his campaign trail of 2008, which is admittedly kind of a long time ago.

But as Psaki says, Biden has “worked on these issues throughout his entire career, and is well-versed in every aspect of our immigration system including the border that includes when he was vice president, and he went to Mexico and Central America ten times to address border issues and talk about what we can do to reduce the number of migrants who were coming to the border,” and that he “does not need a visit to the border to know what a mess was left by the last administration, that’s his view.”

“Does that count as a visit? He said, ‘I’ve been there before,’ you’re saying he drove by for a few minutes, does that count?” Doocy pushed.

The two went back and forth about why people are coming to the border and whether or not Biden’s remarks were accurate given the context—the context being the actual issues around immigration versus getting his picture taken by a collapsing wall.

“Where are people coming from who are coming to the border, Peter?” Psaki asked him. When Doocy continued asking his question Psaki said:

“Ok, I’ll answer it for you. People come from Central America and Mexico, to go to the border. The President has been to those countries ten times to talk about border issues. There is a focus right now on a photo op. The President does not believe a photo op is the same as solutions that may be a difference he has with Republicans.”

That should send Doocy home with his tail between his legs.
