Karen Screams At Cashier After Her Card Is Declined, Insists She’s The One Being Harassed

A customer who kept calling a Dollar General employee stupid came out the other side looking pretty dumb herself after someone posted her meltdown to TikTok.

@kylmasters started recording the embarrassing freakout after the rude customer’s credit card had apparently been declined and she had already been arguing with the cashier long enough to have her write down the number for the corporate office. However, she didn’t seem at all inclined to do anything other than continue standing there berating the employee.

“Leave me alone! Jesus! You ought to listen to yourself sometimes.” the customer shouts, seemingly apropos of nothing. “I don’t want your help! Get your supervisor!”

The cashier explains that she actually is the manager, but the customer insists she doesn’t want a manager, she wants a supervisor.

The one-sided screaming match continues as the customer repeatedly tells the employee to shut up and to stop harassing her, even though how, exactly, she thinks she is being harassed is dramatically unclear.

“Your card is not going through,” the cashier patiently explains.

“Because you’re harassing me!” the woman insists. “Leave me the f—k alone!”

Additional insistence that the Dollar General employee call her boss leads to a reminder that the customer has been given the corporate number already. She then insists that the employee write the actual words “corporate office” on the card for her, which she declines to do.

“You’re stupid. You know that? You’re very stupid, ma’am. Very, very stupid. You are very stupid,” the customer rambles. “You are. You’re stupid.”

She then asks the cashier to leave the register, saying, “I’ll pay for my food if you walk away.”

“Ma’am, I’m not going to walk away because unfortunately, your transaction is not going through,” the still calm employee responds.

“Because you’ve been talking to me,” the customer insists.

Videos of irate and irrational customers berating service and retail employees for things that are not their fault are easily one of the most frustrating genres of video to watch on social media because so many people relate to how draining dealing with people like that can be, and viewers of @kylmaster’s TikTok were no exception.

“THIS is why people are quitting their jobs and refusing to work,” wrote one user.

“Retail workers should be allowed to fight 5 people a year,” suggested @pj_rush.

Others expressed annoyance that nobody stepped in to help diffuse the situation, although customers could be heard making some comments throughout different points in the recording.

“I’m tired of people just standing around doing nothing,” @shannonpowell5 admitted.

Fortunately, the woman eventually seemed to leave, although she wasted everyone’s time and energy for far too long before she simply did the thing she should have done in the first place.
