Baseless conspiracy theories about mass voter fraud in the election have been flooding the Republican corners of the internet ever since Joe Biden pulled ahead of President Trump in several keys states. Just about every photo or video “proving” fraud that’s circulated has been almost immediately refuted, and absolutely no proof of some malicious anti-Trump conspiracy — other than people simply voting for the other candidate because they hate the president — has been found.

But Trump spent months telling his base the mail-in voting was rife with fraud (it is not), so not only did far fewer of them take that voting option, easily explaining away why Biden is pulling the majority of those votes, they were also primed to believe him when he started throwing a Twitter fit about how the Democrats are stealing the election from him.

So his campaign has decided to plow forward with these claims, filing lawsuits where they can, several of which have already been dismissed. They even set up a voter fraud hotline and are encouraging Trump supporters to call and report any fraud they may be aware of, so that the Trump team can investigate in its desperate quest to find absolutely anything that may validate these frivolous accusations the president is making.

Unsurprisingly, the hotline is backfiring on the Trump campaign, and hard. As the number had to be made available to the public, no small number of people are calling in regularly to troll volunteers and hog resources so that “real” complaints can’t get through.

Perhaps the best part is that people are, of course, recording their prank calls to the hotline and uploading them to Twitter and TikTok for clout, so the whole internet can enjoy the ridiculousness right along with them.

Never create a hotline unless you’re willing and able to deal with all the chaos that inevitably ensues! Anyone who has ever watched a single cop show could have told the Trump campaign that.
But it’s admittedly much more fun to watch them find out for themselves.
