Mississippi Representative Price Wallace of the Republican party called for his state to “succeed” from the rest of the country, by which everyone assumes he meant “secede,” in a now-deleted tweet sent out on Saturday after Biden was declared the election winner. It’s unclear whether the tweet was deleted due to the spelling error/auto-correct or because of its nature, but people got screenshots before that happened.

“We need to succeed [sic] from the union and form our own country,” Wallace tweeted.

This statement is extra funny considering the fact that Mississippi very recently voted to finally remove the Confederate flag from its state flag, replacing it with a pleasant flower surrounded by stars.
Wallace’s tweet was in response to a thread by former Mississippi state representative Robert Foster in which he dropped the falsehood that the U.S. is “not a Democracy” and claiming that Republicans will accept the election results. That prediction does not seem to be coming true as Trump and his closest allies throw out lawsuits and order prosecutors to pursue claims of election fraud.

Then there’s Price Wallace, who not only wants to rage quit the game, he wants to make an entirely new country for people like him.
Wallace drew heavy condemnation and a whole lot of mockery for his tweet to the point that his Twitter account is now in protected mode. According to Law & Crime, however, he also wrote something about Biden and Harris coming to take his guns.

Some individuals critical of Wallace’s statement have pointed out that Mississippi relies heavily on federal funds, which make up about 45 percent of the state’s total yearly budget. Considering the fact that the state is already struggling, ranking number 44 out of 50 in fiscal stability and 48th in economy, striking out on their own would likely make things very difficult for their citizens.

Regardless, it seems unlikely that Wallace will be the last to suggest succession to deal with Trump’s loss. Remember how they were when Obama won?
