A genuinely bizarre TikTok video has gone viral after encouraging people torn between voting Republican or Democrat in the current presidential election to…vote for Jesus.
@_lipsticklinz, who describes her account as a “Christian based makeup page,” enacted a hypothetical scenario in which someone asked her who she would be voting for.
“I don’t know…I just feel like they are saying what we want to hear,” she says in response. “I just don’t know who to trust.”
She goes back and forth between Republican and Democrat promises, noted in red vs blue text boxes, as incredibly dramatic Christian music plays.
Eventually, she swipes her hand across her face and leaves a red handprint as the screen flashes the command to “VOTE REPUBLICAN.”
Putting on her best distraught face, she swipes her other hand across the other side of her face for a blue smear/“VOTE DEMOCRAT” comparison.
Lip syncing along the Jesus-centric lyrics, she finally raises her hands to the camera, displaying the words “VOTE JESUS.”
Ultimately, there is no option to vote for Jesus, and even if Americans were to write him in to an overwhelming degree, he still would not become President of the United States. Encouraging citizens to cast their vote for God is, at best, the empty virtue signaling conservatives so often accuse liberals of doing.
People of all religions were deeply baffled by @_lipsticklinz’s video, and many expressed frustration with the suggestion that Christians should throw their vote away.
And others just dunked on her, because honestly, what WAS that?
Just to be clear, again, please don’t vote for Jesus in the 2020 presidential election.
