Now that President Trump has lost his bid for reelection — even though he’s given every indication that dragging him out of office is going to be quite the challenge — even Fox News is losing patience with the constant parade of lies coming from his team.

Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, gave a staggeringly ridiculous press conference on Thursday, yet again boldly claiming widespread voter fraud with no actual evidence to back up the claims.

He made so many specific claims that are and have been easily fact-checked to be false, and tossed out so many conspiracy theories he may as well have been typing up Facebook memes. The entire press conference was such a joke it made previous Trump pressers almost look rational.
And Fox News, in a rare display of honesty, did their jobs and called the whole thing out for what it was.
“That was certainly a colorful news conference from Rudy Giuliani, but it was light on facts,” correspondent Kirstin Fisher said. “So much of what he said was simply not true or has already been thrown out in court.”

She also lambasted his “bold and baseless claim” that there’s some sort of organized “nationwide voter fraud” all coming from one place as part of a plot against Trump.
“He called it a ‘nationwide conspiracy.’ And yet he failed to provide any hard evidence to back up that one specific claim, especially when you’re dealing with a claim that really cuts to the core of our democratic process,” Fisher said.

That the network is long known for cherrypicking facts and twisting things to making Republicans look good and Democrats look bad actually came out and flatly accused Trump’s mouthpiece of lying is just another 2020 shocker.

Of course, the damage has already been done, and the people Fox News helped turned into conspiracy theorists who don’t believe “the mainstream media” will simply tune in to fringe channels as Fox in any way fails to blindly support Trump.

If only they had made such a commitment to calling out lies five years ago, perhaps we wouldn’t be in this absolute mess with the president himself trying to undermine our democracy.
