Twitter Sympathizes With Angelina Jolie After Father Jon Voight Posts New Pro-Trump Video

Jon Voight, one of President Trump’s loudest (and one of few) celebrity supporters, has gone viral after posting another conspiracy theory-driven tirade in support of the president. And this time, it’s prompted people to show their own support for Voight’s daughter, Angelina Jolie, simply for being related to him.

Voight posted the video to his Twitter on Tuesday, tagging Trump.

In the clip, he denounced the “leftist mob,” offhandedly referred to Democrats and a Biden administration as “evil,” and reiterated the baseless claim that Biden won the election with fraudulent votes. He also slammed California governor Gavin Newsom for temporarily tightening COVID safety restrictions after cases in the state began to spike.

“We must not allow our nation to crumble. This is what they want, to destroy America,” Voight said. “Let us fight this evil now. And know that God’s truths will expose them all.”

He ended by noting that “we are a nation that fought the Civil War, and we won that battle,” which of course makes sense, as the United States actually fought both sides of the Civil War.

Despite both working in Hollywood, Jolie and Voight spent many of her adult years estranged, with Voight often using the media to attempt to get back into his daughter’s good graces — or bash her, depending on the day.

In 2002, the Midnight Cowboy actor told the press that his daughter was suffering from “mental problems” and that she was “staying away from me because she knows I’ve been trying to reach her to get help.”

Their relationship reportedly began to mend in recent years, but Jolie, who is well-known for her humanitarian activism at this point and generally believed to skew left on the political spectrum, has stated that the two still “don’t really talk politics well.”

As such, it’s not surprising that fans would send their sympathies to the actress over the headache her father’s constant Twitter rantings undoubtedly cause.

And of course, some are always just surprised to remember, or learn for the first time, that there’s any shared DNA between Voight and Jolie.
