Democrats are fighting an uphill battle in Georgia, attempting to win both of the runoff races to take control of the Senate and knock Mitch McConnell out of his throne of obstruction. But in an amusing twist, it seems some diehard Trump supporters may want Georgia Republicans to lose, as well.

A pro-Trump rally took place in Washington, D.C. over the weekend, intended to encourage the outgoing president in his fruitless crusade to overturn the results of the election. At one point, members of the crowd broke out into chants of “Destroy the GOP!”

“In the first Million MAGA march we promised that if the GOP did not do everything in their power to keep Trump in office, then we would destroy the GOP,” Nick Fuentes, a far right podcaster, told the crowd. “As we gather here in Washington, D.C., for a second Million MAGA March, we’re done making promises. It has to happen now. We are going to destroy the GOP.”

After the chant died down, Fuentes blasted the GOP for expecting them to “hold the line and vote for RINOs [Republicans in Name Only] like David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler in the Georgia Senate runoffs,” prompting the crowd to boo.
This isn’t the first time Trump allies have made headlines for speaking out against voting Republican in the upcoming Senate races.
Earlier this month, attorneys Lin Wood and Sydney Powell spoke at another “Stop the Steal” event in Georgia and suggested attendees not vote for either Perdue or Loeffler because they weren’t present and showing support for Trump.
“We’re not going to vote on January 5 on another machine made by China,” Wood said, after asking the crowd where the candidates were. “You’re not going to fool Georgians again. If Kelly Loeffler wants your vote, if David Perdue wants your vote, they’ve got to earn it.”

Strangely enough, Trump himself has continued to tell Georgia Republicans to vote, even as he insists, with no evidence, that the election was “rigged.”
“There’s never been a case where a state has had this prominence on Senate races. Never together, and this is something that’s very important and you have to get out and you have to vote,” he told Georgia rallygoers days after Wood’s comments. “If you don’t vote, the socialists and the communists win.”
It’s hard to know what to do with all this whiplash, but if MAGA anger actually contributes to the Democrats taking the Senate, many see it as a fitting end to the Trump presidency — and possibly the GOP as we know it.

Early voting begins in Georgia on Monday, and the polls close at 7pm ET on January 5. There’s no telling how many more pro-Trump, anti-GOP rally cries will happen between now and then, but this is certainly going to be an election to watch.
