Fake States Of “New Nevada” And “New California” Ask Supreme Court To Overturn Election

Two non-states have now joined a Texas lawsuit attempting to overturn the 2020 election for Donald Trump after attorney Robert E. Thomas III filed a 13-page an amicus brief “of New California and New Nevada.” Images of the brief soon landed on Twitter, and it only took hours for the names of these not-states to start trending as liberal and leftist folks collectively lost their minds.

“Welp, we now have states that don’t even exist filing amicus briefs in #SCOTUS in Texas’s overturn-the-election suit,” wrote University of Texas School of Law Professor Steve Vladeck. “I think we’ve officially jumped the Kraken.”

As it turns out, New California State and New Nevada State are both “movements” that seek to break from the larger blue regions and form their own new states out of the rural areas of their former homes. In 2018, New California even declared its “independence,” claiming that “California has become governed by a tyranny.”

“After years of over taxation, regulation, and mono-party politics the State of California and many of it’s 58 Counties have become ungovernable,” they said in a statement.

Predictably, nothing came of these efforts. Unless you count blowing up Twitter two and a half years later by trying to join a lawsuit supporting government tyranny. In the brief, Thomas argues that in-person and mail-in ballots were treated differently, and that “disparate treatment is a violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.”

The suit, which seeks to overturn the election results in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Georgia but none of the states that Trump actually won, was filed by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton earlier this week. It is largely considered by legal experts to have little to no chance at being successful and may be Trump’s last-ditch effort to net a second presidential term — at least until 2024.

Meanwhile, mentally and emotionally exhausted Biden supporters can only make jokes about the “new” states, while gamers everywhere post the flag of the New California Republic from Fallout: New Vegas.

“Fact: No candidate has ever won New Nevada and New California but lost the presidency,” wrote journalist Harry McCracken.
