A video of outgoing Vice President Mike Pence running up to a podium while doing an awkward clap has Twitter cracking up in between high school pep rally flashbacks. After landing in Georgia to help Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler with their runoff campaigns, Pence run-claps and heel-kicks up to a makeshift stage to “All Right Now” by Free, finishing the scene off with a parade wave.

The Recount dubbed this display a “prance-clap” and helpfully clarified that they did not add the music in. That was a deliberate choice by the Trump administration.

The video quickly gained millions of views as jokes poured in about Pence’s jaunty trot, with some speculating that he may be trying a little too hard to look positive as the Trump presidency collapses into a single-term disaster.
Republicans are trying their best to keep Donald Trump from yanking control of the U.S. Senate from their grasp, campaigning hard for Purdue and Loeffler as the president continues attacking the electoral system. If both lose their runoff elections, the Senate will be split 50-50, with Vice President-elect Kamala Harris providing the tie-breaking vote.

Trump has been so adamant about attacking the election he lost that his supporters have lost faith in the system altogether, leading to multiple calls for boycotts against the Georgia runoffs until they fix whatever they think the problem is. This has the Republican party sweating profusely, we assume, and they’re clearly trying to send in anyone they can to encourage their supporters to please vote.

Enter Mike Pence, however there is such a thing as looking too excited.
