On November 30, we reported on a nurse, working for an Oregon hospital, who was placed on administrative leave after she took to TikTok to mock restrictions meant to protect people from contraction COVID-19. There’s now a follow-up to that story: The nurse is no longer employed at the hospital.

An Oregon TV station, KPTV-TV, reported on its website Monday that the nurse is no longer employed by Salem Health. Buzzfeed, who identified the TikToker as oncology nurse Ashley Grames, also confirmed she was no longer employed by the hospital that placed her on leave. There were not able to confirm, per the healthcare system’s policy, whether Grames was fired or quit.

The Oregonian, digging further, learned that “Grames has agreed to stop practicing nursing for an unspecified amount of time. The change is effective Tuesday and is not considered discipline.”

The story went on to explain that these “Interim Orders by Consent” agreements remain in effect until the Oregon State Board of Nursing votes to vacate them, which then allows the nurses or nursing assistant to practice again.

Though the original TikTok is unavailable, due to the @loveiskind05 TikTok account being deleted, another nurse created a side-by-side video featuring the original, plus her reaction. That video, by @amandabutcher2, has been viewed 1.4 million times on the platform since first published.

As we noted in our earlier story, the nurse is screaming along with what appears to be a scene from The Grinch in which the Grinch encounters Cindy Lou. It’s captioned, “When my co-workers find out I still travel, don’t wear a mask when I am out, and let my kids have play dates.”

In the repurposed video, Butcher shakes her head throughout the nurse’s display, with a video caption reading, “Imagine being an oncology nurse during a pandemic and bragging about not taking precautions.” Butcher’s accompanying comment reads, “To each their own, but why would you brag about it to others?”

On Monday, Butcher took to TikTok to record an update.

In that latest video, she thanks those who helped make the video viral, and opined, “Hopefully, this makes a change for nurses who are like that.”
