Trump Fans Who Bet Money On Him Winning Re-Election Are Upset And Baffled They Have To Pay Up

Monday’s Electoral College results, confirming that Joe Biden beat Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election, prompted London-based bookmaker Betfair to consider the outcome settled—angered Trump bettors who still don’t believe that the lame-duck president has indeed lost.

Betfair issued a blog post Tuesday stating that they were ruling on the election results based on U.S. election law.

“The Next President market rules stipulated that we would settle the market on the candidate that had the most projected Electoral College votes,” the post said, adding, “Following the Electoral College votes being cast, that candidate is clearly Joe Biden.”

However, a number of people who bet money on Trump winning re-election are still in denial about the results—and took to the internet to voice their outrage.

One Twitter user, @mostcrucified, submitted a video declaring the “bookie busters are on their way” to return the money taken from “patriot gamblers.”

The speaker in the video, wearing a top hat and appearing to be leaning against a trash can, surmised, “I don’t know if the money is going to [George] Soros, or antifa, but we will follow the money, we will track the money, and we will find where the money has gone, and we will get it back.”

Other observers on Twitter just posted some screenshots of scandalized tweets, with popcorn emojis implied.

One of the tweets shared via screenshot was an open appeal to Betfair, expressing concern that “my life savings has (sic) been placed on Trump to win and the votes have not all been counted, so why are you saying I’ve lost.”

Thought that Twitter user, @jrw1672, deleted that tweet, he retweeted an assertion from another account on Monday, the not-at-all-bot-sounding @daniel97047628, that said, “It’s not over until all legal challenges are completed,” with a link to a Gateway Pundit article. The user co-signed that credibly-dubious package by saying, “Betfair please confirm the below. A lot of People need to know this answer.”

Though Betfair is not yet taking action on the 2024 Presidential election, a number of other bookmakers are, according to Oddschecker, with Trump getting odds ranging from 6-1 to 7-1, making him the most likely Republican to win at this juncture.
