We’re almost on the other side of 2020, so you would think that, by now, we would have seen the most ridiculous excuses anti-maskers can come up with much sooner than now. But while there have surely been some doozies over the last nine months, two women have just set a whole new bar.

“We asked these Trump supporters why they don’t wear masks,” reads a recent tweet from @TheGoodLiars, an anti-Trump comedy duo made up of actors Jason Selvig and Davram Stiefler.

The 30-second clip that follows features two white women, wrapped up in Trump flags, trying to school Selvig on their own personal anti-mask theory outside of a Trump rally in Georgia.
“We don’t have the vibrational frequency to host that virus,” the first woman says.
The other nods and chimes in proudly: “I taught her that.”
“So if you don’t have that vibrational frequency right here, you’re not gonna get it,” woman #1 continues.
Clearly at a loss, Selvig tries to get clarity as to what in the world they’re talking about.

“Do you know that everything in this universe vibrates? And is alive? There is life with that. That’s what I’m talking about,” one says.
“I don’t put life into COVID,” the other adds, explaining…nothing. “I’m not going to wear a mask. I never wear a mask.”
It sounds like what these women might be on about, more or less, is that not having the “vibrational frequency” to “host” COVID-19 is just their particularly unbalanced way of saying if they don’t believe in COVID, if they don’t act like it can hurt them, then it can’t. It’s the adult version of believing hiding under the covers will stop the monsters from getting you, with the only difference being that COVID-19 is very real, and has already killed 1.57 million people across the world this year.

Needless to say, people were pretty flabbergasted by the reach of this delusion.

Wear a mask, people. It’s science.
