The former governor of Wisconsin, Republican Scott Walker, is getting roasted after a bizarre photo faux pas that has some calling him hypocritical.

Throughout the pandemic, Walker has been a proponent for ending lockdowns across the country and allowing businesses and individuals to return to life as normal, with no regard to the number of COVID-19 cases constantly climbing as we fail to control the spread.

So when he tweeted out that his family had gone to their local pizza place on Saturday, alongside urging people to “support our local restaurants and small businesses,” it shouldn’t have raised any eyebrows.

However, Walker included a photo of the pizza his family supposedly had while supporting their local business in the tweet, and it wasn’t long before someone recognized it as being a severely cropped version of a photo the ex-governor shared in 2019.

In a normal year, this wouldn’t mean anything at all. But in 2020, critics immediately became suspicious that Walker being a good little Republican politician and encouraging others to go out into the world, while actually keeping his own family safe at home.

Others pointed out it’s entirely possible he could have gotten pizza for delivery, but he made the conscious choice to use an old photo that suggested he was dining in.

Most people just wanted to dunk on him for the ridiculousness of the whole situation.

Walker later tried to cover by saying he “used an old photo since we didn’t take one last night,” and insisted his family really did go to the pizza place in question, but considering he’s one of those people who seems to tweet photos of every single meal he eats, his story is less than bulletproof here.

Either way, it’s just as easy to encourage people to support local restaurants by ordering takeout — they get their money, you get your pizza, and there’s less chance of spreading COVID-19 around for everyone.
