One of the more fascinating — and fully expected — things that have happened following the right-wing attack on the Capitol is that Republicans are now demanding Democrats reach across the aisle so we can all come together and forget any of this ever happened.

Never mind that the same Republicans spent years stoking the unrest and division that led to the attacks, that they spent years slamming the left as terrorists and Democrats as communists and insisting anyone who didn’t vote GOP was out to destroy America.

Now that the right has actually tried to destroy America, and they realized there’s no plausible way to spin it in their favor, they want absolution without doing any of the work to earn it.
Many Republicans and right-wing figures have made public statements calling for unity, appealing to President-elect Joe Biden to ensure no grudges — aka consequences — are held against anyone who has incited the MAGA masses to rise against the government.
Seth Rogen is among the many, many Democrats who want absolutely nothing to do with that nonsense.
Rogen got into it with rightwing pundit Hugh Hewitt after Hewitt insisted that “the president-elect still has the opportunity to begin his Administration with an appeal based on Lincoln’s first inauguration: ‘We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies.’”
“We’ve already established that your words are meaningless and you have no set of morals that you consistently abide by, and therefore you should probably just shut up?” Rogen fired back.

The back-and-forth continued, with Hewitt suggesting Rogen come on his show to talk about his “subservience to the box office demands of the Chinese Community Party,” to which Rogen replied that his movies don’t come out in China and called Hewitt a “f—ing moron.”
Hewitt continued to try to sound level-headed while ultimately just spewing out nothing more than hot air.
“There might have been a time when your vocabulary could mask the fact that you’re an empty toilet waiting to be filled with shit, just to give it purpose, but that time has passed,” Rogen told him.

The actor/writer also took the time to clap back at Texas Representative Kevin Brady, who tried to claim that anyone who wants President Trump impeached after he incited a riot that left five dead is somehow also responsible for inciting future violence — which should just go to show you how accustomed to not facing legal consequences these people are, if they equate as much with actual violence.

“If you think inciting a deadly insurrection isn’t grounds for impeachment, you’re a f—king fascist and you should go f—k yourself,” Rogen shot back.
It seems unlikely these belligerent demands from Republicans that they be treated well and face no consequences for their actions and alliances with domestic terrorists will end any time soon, and Rogen seems to have the exact right idea as to how to respond to them.
