Landen Ewing says she was on a small airplane about a month ago when she noticed the passenger seated next to her was holding his phone out and texting in such a way that she could easily read his messages.

“Before anyone comes at me for like, looking at someone’s phone when they’re sitting next to me, everyone does it,” she told her viewers.

As Ewing kept an eye on his texts, she realized he was actually talking to the other person —who seemed to be his significant other—about her.

“I look over and she says ‘How’s the flight going?’ and he says ‘Too small with this fat ass next to me,’” she recalled. “He was talking about me!”

Ewing was able to get a single photo of the text conversation, in which he followed up with an “lol” and the recipient replied with “Hahaha. Tell her about keto.”

The TikToker also said that the remainder of the conversation included the other passenger responding “I’ll be alright, don’t think we’ll make it off the ground,” among other derogatory things purportedly about her, as they were the only two people in the row.

“So if you’re his wife or girlfriend and you see this, your boyfriend sucks,” Ewing concluded.

Viewers of the video didn’t miss a beat, sharing their own amusing suggestions for how Ewing could have handled the situation.

“You should’ve airdropped him a note that said ‘I see what you’re typing and I’m not happy about it,’” suggested @haley72011.

@authenticcharbar took an even less direct approach, saying that “when the flight attendant came, I’d be like ‘diet coke pls, I apparently have a weight problem.’”

A lot of people suggested the man probably just thought Ewing was hot but had a jealous or “crazy” girlfriend and didn’t want to get in trouble — although that certainly begs the question of why he would bother to bring up the person sitting to him at all.

“They’re acting as if the gf interrogated him about who exactly sitting next to him, when he literally just said that out of nowhere,” one user pointed out.

While the incident sounds jarring, Ewing ultimately doesn’t seem too bothered by it.

“I honestly didn’t even spend more than one hour thinking about it,” she admitted. “I thought it was funny.”

But she did note that if it had happened to someone else, it could have been pretty damaging.

“It’s just a reminder to be kind and really think about the things you say, because it can affect people,” she said.
