Ohio resident and accused Capitol insurrectionist Troy Faulkner has been arrested after the internet spotted a whole phone number for the guy’s business printed on the jacket he wore to the attempted coup. This may be the best example yet of these Trump supporters getting themselves caught by just being the worse criminals ever.

Faulkner, owner of Faulkner Painting, was caught on camera smashing a building window by kicking it and has been nailed with disorderly conduct, trespassing, property damage, and obstruction charges. The criminal complaint itself is worth looking at, because it includes a screenshot of a social media post roasting the guy for wearing that jacket.

“Jeez, man,” reads the text over the photo of the jacket. “You wore your company jacket into the middle of the insurrection?”

This was probably not the kind of advertising Faulkner was hoping for.

Weeks before the criminal complaint was filed on Friday, Faulkner seemed to know he was going down for property damage. In a text message exchange with the Ohio Capital Journal, the business owner confessed to what he did and expressed regret for his actions.

“It seemed the cops were antagonizing us and letting them straight into the building in the front so I believe it was all set up for the Trump people,” he said. “I knew I shouldn’t have kicked in the window. I was upset and wasn’t thinking rationally.”

This seems on-brand for Faulkner, who pleaded guilty to a felony charge for carrying a concealed weapon into a liquor store in 2012 and spent 14 months in prison after violating the terms of his supervised release. In 2008, he caught a domestic violence charge. Also, he sports a “white lives matter” frame around his Facebook photo, in which he sports a red MAGA hat, according to the Capitol Journal.

“I don’t glorify what I did, nor am I proud of it,” Faulkner added.

The criminal complaint also states that Faulkner called the FBI to turn himself in on January 13, though it’s unclear whether this was out of guilt or because he remembered the jacket he was wearing on January 6. The obstruction charges in particular can carry significant prison time if he’s found guilty, though he may be treated with leniency for his confession.
