The timing of the new footage from the assault on the Capitol on January 6 has confirmed that Donald Trump had been informed that Mike Pence was being evacuated when he sent the tweet condemning him for not overturning the 2020 election results.

According to a HuffPost report, the footage released by the impeachment managers Wednesday shows Pence being evacuated at 2:14 pm, 10 minutes before Trump tweeted his attack on the then-vice president.

“Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify,” Trump wrote. “USA demands the truth!”

The reason people believe that Trump knew about Pence’s evacuation is due to an admission by Republican Senator and avid Trump supporter Tommy Tuberville that the former president called him during the insurrection.

The Senator told reporters that Trump called him to seek his aid in delaying the certification of the Electoral College votes, but Tuberville had to get off the phone because it was going down.

“He didn’t get a chance to say a whole lot because I said, ‘Mr. President, they just took the vice president out. I’ve got to go,'” Tuberville admitted on Wednesday.

This has led to the assumption that Trump was fully aware that Pence was being evacuated and that his life was potentially in danger when he sent the tweet blaming his vice president for what he was calling a stolen election.

Around the same time, rioters were filmed chanting “hang Mike Pence” and erecting a gallows outside of the Capitol building.

This evidence would seem to strongly support the Democratic case against Trump in the ongoing second impeachment trial of the new Florida resident.

However, in spite of this and other alarming footage showing just how close the mob got to Pence and members of congress as well as exactly how Trump incited them, it’s still considered unlikely that enough Republicans will vote to convict.
