Progressives are currently very unhappy about the loss of the $15 minimum wage in the latest COVID-19 relief bill after the Senate parliamentarian declared it couldn’t be and Vice President Harris declined to override her.

To drive home the point and make detractors get their vote on the record, Senator Bernie Sanders forced a vote on a straight $15 minimum wage bill, which failed not just due to Republicans but from eight Democrats voting against it.

One of those Democrats has become a particular target of working class frustration after she stepped up for her vote in a weird schoolgirl outfit and did a cute little curtsy as she gave her “thumbs down” no vote.
Twitter users were quick to discover that the backpack-style bag that Senator Kyrsten Sinema chose to wear with her cheerleader skirt is a product of the leggings and yoga apparel brand Lululemon.

But the outfit and the enthusiastic bob while voting are not the only things that people have found objectionable related to Sinema’s vote. They also dug up past tweets of her supporting minimum wage increases, at least for her own state.

Sinema has defended herself by claiming that she wants to be able to debate a minimum wage raise bill through a normal procedure, but many have pointed out that this is a pointless exercise. It is assumed that due to the filibuster that moderate Democrats refuse to eliminate, Republicans would block any minimum wage bill brought to the Senate and no amount of words could change their minds.

To top it all off, Sinema has been retweeting posts praising her for bringing a cake to Senate staffers who worked late into the night on Thursday. This created an easy association between the senator and another political figure who said something about poor people and cake (or not really, but you get the point).
It’s becoming clear that people are pretty fed up with Democrats getting nowhere on the minimum wage for 12 years now. Even the fight for $15 has been going on for so long that it’s now not enough to pay for an average apartment anywhere in the U.S.
