It’s impossible to go a single day on Twitter without seeing a take so bad it seems like parody. Today’s winner just barely missed the deadline for International Women’s Day, although it clearly would have been more appropriate if it had hit that date.

“Ladies, if you own a company and your husband is out of [a] job would you step down from your position as the CEO for your husband to take over?” asked Ubi Franklin, who is described on Wikipedia as a married “Nigerian music artist manager, Politician, Entrepreneur, TV show host and the founder of record label Made Men Music Group.”

Obviously, this is a stupid question.

This question is so stupid, in fact, that it sounds like trolling. But that doesn’t seem to be the case.

The responses to Franklin’s tweet were largely negative, with a lot of folks blasting him for the underlying misogyny going on here.
