Bobby Prahl was visiting Miami Beach last week when he watched a car drive up onto the sidewalk and crash into the glass front of a food market. So Prahl did what anyone in our social media-driven society would do—he whipped out his phone and started recording.

His video proved to be an important record of events, because the driver opted not to stick around.
27-year-old Sharon Martinez-Lazaro of Los Angeles was allegedly responsible for the crash, but according to both the video and Prahl, she seemed largely unfazed by what had just happened.
Ignoring numerous bystanders pointing out that she had almost just hit a homeless woman sitting on the sidewalk, and likely knowing perfectly well that cops were on their way, Martinez-Lazaro allegedly opted to pop her luggage out of the trunk of the car and call an Uber.

In Prahl’s video, the driver shows up and leads Martinez-Lazaro over to his car on foot, where she hauls her suitcase into the trunk and flees the scene, as everyone looks on in shock.
The footage ends with Prahl riding along with the police to where other officers have eventually caught up with both Martinez-Lazaro and her getaway driver.
The whole thing is mind-blowingly short-sighted, and the audacity is off the charts.
It’s unclear as of yet what caused the initial crash, though witnesses have said Martinez-Lazaro was “driving on the sidewalk” even before her car smashed into the storefront.

She was ultimately charged both for fleeing the scene and for the thousands of dollars worth of property damage she caused, while her Uber driver, Bobby Stone, was charged with being an accessory after the fact.
According to TMZ, Stone admitted he knew about the crash and helped her get away all the same.
