Pride Month isn’t quite upon us yet, but comic companies are already announcing their line-ups to celebrate with the LGBTQ community, and one piece of news from Marvel, in particular, is sticking out.

We’re getting a gay Captain America.

Now, this isn’t Steve Rogers, and it isn’t in the Marvel Cinematic Universe — yet, anyway. But inclusivity always starts somewhere.
Aaron Fischer is being introduced as the Captain America of the Railways in The United States of Captain America, which features Rogers linking up with other people who have “taken up the mantle of Captain America to defend their communities” on a quest to find his lost shield, according to Marvel.
“Aaron is inspired by heroes of the queer community: activists, leaders, and everyday folks pushing for a better life,” said the new comic’s writer, Joshua Trujillo.
People are already psyched for the inclusivity, especially as it pertains to a superhero moniker that is familiar to the general public.

The world is moving towards inclusion whether they like it or not, though. With Marvel’s first gay superhero hitting the big screen later this year in The Eternals, hopefully, it’s only a matter of time before even more LGBTQ heroes become household names.
