A wax museum in San Antonio, Texas has made the decision to remove its figure of Donald Trump for the simple reason that guests to their establishment wouldn’t stop punching it in the face. According to the San Antonio Express-News Louis Tussaud’s Waxworks on Alamo Plaza has moved the wax figure to storage for now.

The removal happened in July 2020 as the presidential election was heating up and attacks on wax Trump became more frequent. Apparently, even moving him to the lobby in the view of staff members didn’t stop people from taking out their frustrations on Ripley Entertainment’s property.

It’s not unusual for wax museums to rotate their displays, having limited space, nor is it unheard of for people to attack figures of controversial politicians. However, according to museum staff, the scratches inflicted on wax Trump were so deep that he may need some repair before he’s returned to public view.

Still, that’s not as bad as what has happened to previous wax presidents.
“We’ve always had trouble with the presidential section because no matter what president it was — Bush, Obama or Trump — they’ve all had people beat them,” said regional manager Clay Stewart. “The ears were torn off Obama six times. And then [George W.] Bush’s nose was punched in.”
“People are just aggressive about their political party.”
Normally, a damaged figure would be shipped to Orlando for repairs, but COVID restrictions have made this complicated. Stewart says that the museum will probably keep Trump in the back at least until they get their figure of current President Joe Biden, which is currently in the works at wax headquarters.

Being left in the closet is still a better fate than what happened to the Madame Tussauds Trump wax figure in Berlin. Just days before the 2020 election, the museum literally put their wax Trump in the trash along with his MAGA hat and a number of little tweet signs saying things like “you’re fired.”
They also recorded video of him being rolled out in his dumpster right past a grinning figure of Barack Obama.
