Folks Distressed By Diagram “Proving” How Jerry Seinfeld’s Apartment Hallway Can’t Possibly Exist

The set of Jerry Seinfeld’s apartment is incredibly familiar to most of us. Even if you didn’t watch the show, most of it takes place either in Jerry’s home or at the iconic “restaurant” whose facade has become a tourist destination in New York despite the series being filmed in Los Angeles.

That’s TV magic baby! A television set can transport us to an imaginary place and convince us it really exists. Well, the jig is up, Seinfeld.

Redditor u/PixelMagic shared an aerial illustrated view of what the interior of Jerry’s home contains, essentially leaving out anything that was never visually confirmed, like his bedroom—OR THE HALLWAY.

As you can see, the extended green lines etched over the drawing show that a hallway would not physically connect in the traditional way given the design of his kitchen:

“Jerry’s Hallway Can’t Exist,” they titled it. This is destroying lives:

This might a less significant discovery if Jerry’s door to the hallway weren’t such a spectacular plot point. After all, that is where Kramer bursts in every single episode. Is it possible Kramer was only coming over to Jerry’s because there was no way to exit the building?

This certainly isn’t the first time folks have dissected the reality of a sitcom character’s living situation:

Is TV….fake? Help! My brain!

There was also a lively discussion on Reddit about the material realities of Jerry Seinfeld’s living situation, but one commenter named u/thatlastshot had slightly more new information on its dimensions.

“There is a quick shot in a Season 6 episode that actually shows more apartments to the right of the kitchen. Another short wall with a bookcase on it. It’s somewhere between episodes 15-17 I noticed it the other night,” they wrote, before sharing a screenshot and confirming it appeared in season six, episode 17 “The Kiss Hello.”

“We can’t see much but that might actually be the set for George’s apartment,” they add.

That introduces a whole new metaphysical reality that I can’t contend with. I am just going to assume Jerry’s hallway does exist, and takes a sharp left.
