QAnon And Anti-Vaxxers Rip Into Ivanka Trump For Getting COVID Vaccine

QAnon devotees have not had an easy go of it this year. The man they believed was destined to remain president lost at every turn, one of his close allies is under investigation for sex trafficking, and now his daughter is promoting the COVID-19 vaccine.

Right-leaning conspiracy theorists were already angry over Donald Trump himself reportedly getting the vaccine before he left the White House, but some found ways to handwave it away, as they do with everything that doesn’t fit their narrow vision of how events surrounding American politics are “meant” to unfold.

But now Ivanka Trump has not only received her shot, but posted a photo of herself getting it, and encouraged all of her followers to set up appointments to get vaccinated as well.

Anti-vaxxers and QAnon followers have had no qualms denouncing Ivanka’s decision, calling her a traitor and just another pawn of whatever shadow group they believe is pulling all the strings of the world.

Although a few did try to explain away Ivanka’s “betrayal” the same way that they’ve found excuses for everything that doesn’t fit their narrative.

It’s no secret that Republicans have been more hesitant to get the vaccine than the rest of the country, so ultimately, anyone with any sort of sway over them promoting the vaccine is a good thing — no matter what anti-vaxxers say.

But that hasn’t stopped Trump family critics from continuing to express their frustration with how the previous administration handled the COVID response over the past year.

It’s not difficult to see why people would be suffering from whiplash after watching the previous administration offer an underwhelming response to a pandemic-inducing virus for nearly a year and then turn around and get vaccinated for it at the end of the day.

Maybe QAnon and anti-vaxxer trust in the Trumps won’t survive the back-and-forth, but if the vaccinated portion encourages any of their followers to get the shot…at least there’s that.
