Sheriff’s Deputy Falsely Bragged To White Nationalists About Beating Black Man, According To Report

A man named Cody Richard Griggers has pleaded guilty to charges regarding possessing unregistered guns after the FBI started investigating him for his connection to a white nationalist group called “Shadow Moses,” the  Washington Post reports. Griggers has been working as a Georgia sheriff’s deputy, and bragged in group texts with the white nationalists that he had beaten a Black man for allegedly stealing an ammo cartridge, calling it “sweet stress relief.”

In his communications with Shadow Moses, Griggers relentlessly used homophobic and racist slurs, and according to CBS News, he claimed that had acquired illegal firearms and “expressed views that were consistent with racially motivated violent extremism.”

The investigation actually uncovered 11 illegal firearms, so he was telling the truth about that. He had a machine gun that wasn’t issued by his department and an unregistered short-barrel shotgun.

The Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office, however, deny that Griggers ever beat up a Black man in a stop at a gun shop.

“I beat the (expletive) out of a (racial slur) Saturday. (Expletive) tried to steal (a gun magazine) from the local gun store. …Sheriff’s dept. said it looked like he fell,” a report from the Telegraph claimed Griggers told his racist cronies. Wilkinson Sheriff Richard Chatman claims otherwise, saying the former deputy was being “braggadocious.”

“That never happened,” said Chatman. “We don’t even have a gun shop [in Wilkinson County].”

The department fired Griggers back in November, and part of his sentencing dictates he can never work in law enforcement again, with Attorney Peter D. Leary saying he’s lost the “privilege permanently of wearing the blue.” He could potentially face ten years in jail and a $250,000 fine. Imagine if no racist cop could ever work again. The department would be cleared out.

Griggers seemingly false claims about his gun store attack on a Black man were just one of the many sentiments he expressed that made it clear he had a white nationalist agenda.

He also told other members of Shadow Moses that he charged Black people with felonies in an attempt to strip them of their right to vote; he also talked about killing liberal politicians.

“On one hand, it infuriates me,” Griggers wrote, while discussing a future war against liberals and anyone not white. “On the other hand, I wanted to go ahead and fast-forward so I can enjoy the suffering of the abortion that is the American population.”

If he could have fast-forwarded to this moment, he sure would have been surprised.
