Denver police officer Sheriff Deputy Daniel Trujillo died on May 26. The Daily Dot reports that his cause of death was COVID-19 complications. Trujillo’s death caught the attention of journalist Ken Klippenstein and others, and before too long, screenshots of the cop’s social media posts started circulating on Twitter.

It seems that before his death, Trujillo posted a number of anti-vaxx and anti-mask memes that some feel are ironic given the nature of his death.

One of his posts shows his face surrounded by a banner reading “I don’t care if you’ve had your vaccine.”
Another reads, “Before you shame me in public for not having a mask, ask yourself one simple question. Will this mask will stop an uppercut?”
Another features a picture of a police badge with the words, “I have an immune system.”
The screenshots have set off quite a debate in the comments, as people argue about whether or not it’s appropriate to point to the man’s beliefs now that he has died, possibly leaving behind family and friends.
Other posts about Trujillo suggest he was a member of a neo-Nazi group and a story from the Denver Post says the cop was suspended for beating and squeezing an inmate’s arms with nunchucks.
