Man Records Jerk Confronting Him Over Handicap Equipment On Park Trail

A man was caught on video making a fool out of himself trying to bully a disabled person for “breaking the rules.”

The footage, posted to Reddit’s PublicFreakout page, was recorded from the vantage point of the man coming up the trail in what seems to be some sort of specialized wheelchair for navigating bumpy trails.

A man and woman are blocking his path, but rather than move, the man steps up to confront him.

“Seriously dude, you’re not supposed to have ebikes on this thing,” he says. “This is a handicap piece of equipment,” the man recording replies.

In any normal situation, that should have been the end of it. But the jerk instead chose to double down. “And?” he asks. “Show me the rules saying that you’re allowed to do this.”

“You’re serious? Who are you?” the confused rider replies.

“Come on, buddy. You’re breaking the rules at the park,” the guy insists.

“It’s a handicap piece of equipment,” the man recording tries again. “I can’t walk.”

At that point, the obnoxious path-blocker walks away, and his companion chastises the man using the equipment, saying he “should have led with” that information….despite the fact that he definitely did.

Redditors commended the disabled man for handling things as well as he did, while also pointing out how unnecessary everything the other man did in that situation was.

“I love people who think they have the right to an explanation from random strangers in public,” u/christhewelder75 wrote. “Go about your day and mind your business.”

“I feel sorry for the disabled guy, that he had to put up with this a-hole. If anyone shouldn’t be allowed in the park, it should be the cyclist, for harassing fellow park-enthusiasts,” added u/y4hbutn4h.

It’s unclear when exactly the video was taken, but many commenters have said that seeing this sort of casual discrimination and policing against disabled people on park trails is far too common.
