Marjorie Taylor Greene Chides Reporter For Violating Her ‘HIPAA Rights’ After Being Asked If She’s Vaccinated

Marjorie Taylor Greene continues to lead the Republican charge against knowledge and facts after she wrongly told a reporter that asking about her vaccination status was a violation of HIPAA.

The woefully unqualified Georgia representative was speaking with reporters on Tuesday night when one posed the question of whether or not she had gotten the jab.

“Well, your first question is a violation of my HIPAA rights,” she responded. “You see, with HIPAA rights, we don’t have to reveal our medical records and that also involves our vaccine records.”

For whatever reason, the reporter didn’t do his job and let the response slide, despite Greene’s answer being a regurgitation of a common falsehood among anti-vaxxers and anti-maskers since the very beginning of the pandemic.

HIPAA—the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act—prevents healthcare workers from revealing private information about patients without their consent. It has absolutely nothing to do with people being asked about their medical records by another person or revealing them of their own accord. In other words, it has no application in this scenario whatsoever.

That didn’t stop anti-maskers from spending the entirety of 2020 screaming that their HIPAA rights were being violated every time someone asked them if they had a medical condition that prevented them from wearing a mask, and it certainly wouldn’t stop Greene from using it to dodge a simple question.

But it also doesn’t stop Twitter from calling her out—and instantly memeing her, since the reporter couldn’t be bothered.

Being asked about her vaccination status wasn’t the only question that proved too challenging for Greene last night.

The Congresswoman was recently banned from tweeting for 12 hours after yet again sharing coronavirus misinformation—this time, in part, claiming that only old people and obese people face any real danger from COVID-19, something we know by now is entirely untrue.

A reporter referenced that, pointing out that both children and “skinny people” have died from the virus as well. In response, Greene laughed.

“Do you feel any responsibility?” the reporter asked. “You crack me up,” she replied.
