When he saw Fox News host Tucker Carlson walking through a sporting goods store in Livingston, Montana, local fly fishing guide Dan Bailey wasted no time in telling the vaccine skeptic just what he thought of him.

“You are the worst human being known to mankind,” Bailey is heard telling Carlson in a video posted to his Instagram page Friday. “I want you to know that.”
“I appreciate that,” replies Carlson, standing firm as he says he’s “not gonna debate.”

Bailey continues speaking his peace: “What you have done to this state, to the United States, to everyone else in this world…I don’t care that your daughter is here,” he says, apparently in response to Carlson’s protestations. “What you have done to families, what you have done to everybody else in this world…”
The conversation, which appears to be taken on a mobile phone, is difficult to make out, though the point at which the Fox News host realizes he’s being filmed is clear to see as his eyes pivot to the phone and his mouth breaks out into a grin. Carlson can be heard telling Bailey to “settle down, son” before turning and walking away.
In the video’s Instagram caption, Bailey wrote of Carlson: “This man has killed more people with vaccine misinformation, he has supported extreme racism, he is a fascist and does more to rip this country apart than anyone that calls themselves an American.”
The confrontation took place at Dan Bailey’s Outdoor Company, though the store issued a statement Saturday explaining it has no affiliation with the man in the video. “This person has no affiliation with our business, other than he shares the same name as our founder, who passed away in 1982. To be clear, we treat every customer equally and respectfully. Our staff was professional and cordial to Mr. Carlson, as we are with all of our customers,” store owner Dale Sexton said.
Folks applauded Bailey—christened “Montana Man”—across social media for confronting the Fox News host, who frequently makes a habit of yelling over guests he disagrees with and making bad-faith arguments about the January 6 Capitol riot, the COVID-19 vaccine, the 2020 election, and just about everything else.
