Railway Unveils Rainbow Pride Train, Shuts Down Whiny Homophobes

ScotRail, the railway system serving Scotland, unveiled a brilliantly colorful train in support of LGBTQ Pride this month—and subsequently shut down haters.

In a press release, ScotRail explained that they drew from the inclusive version of the pride flag for the design, which includes white, pink, and light blue for trans pride and Black and brown stripes to represent BIPOC who fall under the LGBTQ umbrella.

“It’s a visual commitment to our support and a reminder that we won’t tolerate bigotry or discrimination,” ScotRail Commercial Director Lesley Kane said. “Regardless of background or your identity, you should feel welcomed and safe when traveling.”

They also noted that the design is intended to stay on the train far beyond Pride month—for a full eight years, in fact.

Homophobes were quick to complain about the design, to the surprise of absolutely nobody.

One comment, in particular, gained a fair amount of ire, as the person behind it suggested ScotRail would also need to paint a train with “straight colors” (whatever those might be), otherwise the heterosexuals are being “discriminated against.”

The tweet has since been deleted, but ScotRail’s on point reply remains.

It shouldn’t be difficult for homophobes to grasp that the reason we need LGBTQ visibility is so that people will stop feeling so comfortable with their homophobia, considering the rainbow brings them and their bigotry running every time, but here we are.

And @ScotRail wasn’t the only one taking this tweeter to task.

Ultimately, whether homophobes like it or not, this train is going to be blazing through Scotland, colors bright and proud, for the foreseeable future.
