A man accused of participating in the January 6 assault on the Capitol was reportedly given the honor of accompanying several Republican representatives to the southern border so that they could complain about immigrants on Tuesday. Anthony Aguero, a YouTuber who said on video that he was among those who breached the Capitol (and they were definitely not antifa) and close ally of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, helped as a translator and drove one of the representatives around on the border trip, according to CNN.

And if you don’t believe CNN, you can see the whole thing on Aguero’s own livestream of the political stunt.

Among the congress members who went to the border with the accused rioter was Rep. Lauren Boebert and Rep. Madison Cawthorn, whose name was mispronounced by Aguero in his video.

“Hi guys, Congressman Hawthorn is behind me,” Aguero said on his livestream. “That is freaking awesome. That is freaking awesome. I’ll tell you that.”

The trip was put on by the Republican Study Committee as yet another stunt to attack Joe Biden and rile up their base about the scary desperate families fleeing violence and poverty caused by U.S. drug policy, but they apparently did not know that Aguero would be there. According to the RSC, he just kind of showed up when the Republicans got to the border site in La Joya, Texas.

“Chairman (Jim) Banks never spoke to the individual in question, the Republican Study Committee was unaware of his identity and whereabouts on January 6, and he did not travel with our group to the border,” said RSC Deputy Communications Director Buckley Carlson.

Yet when he showed up and introduced himself as an “independent journalist,” the Republican group let him accompany them, assist them with translations, and drive Rep. Randy Webber in his truck after the Texas congressman missed his van. The next day, when Donald Trump arrived at the border to hold one of his beloved yelling rallies, Aguero was spotted sitting in a coveted seat just behind him.

Aguero has been a far-right livestreamer for some time now and has often made trip to the border to scream at migrants trying to make the crossing and call them “cockroaches” among other dehumanizing terms. On January 6, he was spotted in videos chanting “heave-ho” as others worked to break into the Capitol and later chanting “our house” among the mob once they were inside. He has not yet been charged and the FBI has so far refused to comment on whether they would be pursuing charges against him.

He has also been associated with right-wing militias and violent gangs like the Guardian Patriots and the Proud Boys.
