Trump Team Launches New Social Media Platform GETTR, No Really That’s What It’s Called

The Trump team, lead by former spokesperson for the former president Jason Miller, has finally launched the promised alternative social media platform to all the mainstream ones that banned Donald after he instigated the attempted coup at the Capitol on January 6.

The website, which promises to be a force for “fighting cancel culture, promoting common sense, defending free speech, challenging social media monopolies, and creating a true marketplace of ideas,” is called GETTR for reasons unknown to humanity.

Whatever the reason for this odd domain name, absolutely nobody can seem to look at it without thinking of Larry the Cable Guy and his famous catch phrase.

The launch of GETTR was surprisingly quiet considering how Trump usually is to the point that people are unsure if this is really the social media platform that the Florida man has been hinting about for several months now or if he’s involved in GETTR at all. However, it’s difficult to miss how similar the new site looks to Trump’s former favorite platform, Twitter. The layout and sidebar icons are virtually identical.

Trump has not yet issued any statement on the launch of GETTR, having been quiet since Monday when he published one complaining about the looming indictments against the Trump Organization, which were issued earlier today. He may be too busy raging and/or packing right now to be very concerned about social media.

The GETTR app reportedly appeared in app stores in the middle of June, but nobody much noticed until today. It has been downloaded around 2,000 times so far, which is not considered good in the first weeks of any app’s launch, but at least it still appears to be functioning well unlike other right-wing Twitter alternative attempts.

Far-right propaganda machine and Trump sycophant operation Newsmax has an account that somehow already boasts nearly a million followers, which seems odd considering the low number of app downloads. This could potentially suggest that the platform is primarily the home of mass numbers of bot accounts. It looks like more than half of their followers lack even a profile photo.

Only time will tell if GETTR will do as well as Trump’s “Office of the Former President” blog did, but for now, it’s been useful for anyone looking for a good laugh.
