One Twitter user tried to kick off a truly bizarre argument this week, but was unceremoniously shut down by 97.3% of those who engaged.

@slicksista posited that it’s “very tacky for somebody to eat the free bread as soon as you get it” at a restaurant. According to her imaginary rules, “you should wait five minutes before reaching for the bread.”

Umm, what??
Okay, sure, some people don’t want to be the first one to dig into food in a group of people. If that’s your thing, that’s fine. Someone else can go first and you can join in when you’re ready. But arbitrarily suggesting everyone wait five minutes to hit up the bread basket is genuinely out of this world.
Despite @slicksista’s certainty that she was in the right with her made-up rules, the overwhelming majority of folks who saw her tweet weren’t having any of it, and made that abundantly clear with some excellent tweets.
