Donald Trump Booed At His Own Rally After Suggesting Fans Get Vaccinated

It looks like there may be no hope for Donald Trump’s followers ever coming around on vaccination. Trump and his misinformation campaign around coronavirus has taken such a deep hold that they don’t even respect their mega leader’s opinion on the matter before. And that’s because these people don’t really love Donald Trump: they love rejecting progressivism, embracing individualism, and hating everyone in their community who isn’t exactly like them.

Trump may have brought the bigots out to play, but they’re loose now, and they’d turn on him if it was in their interests.

On Saturday night, Trump hosted a “Save America “rally in Cullman, Alabama. Apparently, not many people in Alabama want to save America, because they don’t want to be vaccinated against a deadly, highly contagious virus that seems to be morphing into even more contagious, deadly versions of itself. When the former president suggested they check the vaccine out, they booed him.

Trump said the vaccines were “good,” though not as good as the “freedom” to destroy your own community with disease.

“I believe totally in your freedoms, I do, you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do,” he said. “But I recommend that you take the vaccines.”

They booed.

“You’ve got your freedoms,” he said after.

They cheered.

“But I happened to take the vaccine.”

They booed.

“If it doesn’t work, you’ll be the first to know, okay?” he said when that round of booing died out. “I’ll call up Alabama and say, ‘hey, you know what?’…But, it is working. But you do have your freedoms. You have to keep — you have to maintain that.”

Reporters watching the event were pretty shocked by the way the crowd turned on him, even though it’s the natural conclusion of the MAGA cult:

Anyone looking for the edge of Trumpism just found it: Trump recommends the #COVID19 vaccine to a massive Alabama rally crowd, only to get shouted down with boos from the audience.

Not even Donald himself can get these folks on board with the vaccine.

At his rally in Alabama on Saturday night, Trump tells the crowd to “take the vaccines” and promptly gets booed.

Trump was booed at his own rally in Alabama last night for telling people to get the vaccine — demonstrating the effect of repeated lies from Fox News but also how Trump really is led more by his supporters.

The Daily Beast recently reported that Trump has been approached to do a pro-vaccine campaign, perhaps even working with the Biden administration. It seems as though he has rejected the idea, but maybe decided to float the concept at this rally.

Most of the rally was unmasked, and rates of COVID-19 are the same as they were in January in Alabama, with an average of 4,500 positivity rate per day.
