People Applaud Little Boy Calling Out Homophobia While He Is Gaming Online

Sometimes it feels like we’re all doomed, but then you meet a young person who gives you hope for future generations. Yes, this particular kid is 12 years old and playing Warzone, but we must respect the concentration. He’s not only playing the popular video game, he’s trying to reason with other gamers about their homophobia while he’s doing it.

This original video was posted by his sibling under their TikTok account @bummblebeeduo__ and then got shared on Twitter by @davenewworld_2, where it went super viral. In the TikTok, the kid is sitting next to a bottle of Gatorade (which is key while gaming) and talking to someone we can’t hear—it seems like it’s someone who said something pretty homophobic while they were playing, and this kid will not let it go:

“You don’t support LGBT people?” he asks, before explaining the moniker isn’t just for gay people, but lesbians and trans people as well. Surprise surprise, the homophobe he’s chatting with is also transphobic, and once again this pre-teen tries to reason with them.

It seems like whoever is on the other line gets sick of the subject and says something about not caring, because the boy replies, “I DO care,” and continues the conversation.

Since blowing up, the kids have started a fundraiser for LGBTQ charities, and they’re getting a lot of support:

On Twitter, where everyone is decidedly less pure of heart, the boy is getting a lot of criticism for playing Warzone at all or for playing it badly, depending on their perspective.

By using your logic that would also mean books cause school shootings?

Though for many, this is an inspiring moment that shows there actually is progress in the newer generations and they admire the young man for standing up for what he believes, especially in an online game which are notorious for offensive harassment:

My son is 14 years old and calls out racisms, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, ableist while playing on line. There is hope for this generation, we need to save it for them now

Not to take anything away from there admirable public stand, it’s very possible that this kid is conforming with his friend group when he calls out anti-LGBTQ attitudes. Young people today give me a lot of hope.

You’d be surprised how many kids that age are out there giving teachable moments over fortnite. I never get tired of hearing my son call out bigotry and he’s so not alone in it. The kids are alright.
