A street preacher may wish he’d taken up snake handling as part of his religious training after one managed to chase him away from his post.

A short clip shows a man with a snake around his neck and a shirt advertising “snake selfies for donations” walking casually towards the preacher, who was carrying a giant sign reading “Hell Is Real Give Your Life To Jesus,” in typical street preacher fearmongering fashion.
The preacher immediately started to scream, prompting the snake wrangler to start chasing him through the crowd of people gathered to heckle him. He runs into the street screaming “not the snake!”

“I hate snakes! I hate snakes!” he yells.
“He wants to meet you,” the snake wrangler tells him, holding his little buddy up towards him as the preacher continues to back away.
The preacher’s nightmare fuel is cut short as a cop car siren whoops and a woman off-screen, presumably a police officer, tells them to cut it out.
Although the video was just shared to Reddit recently, it circulated on Twitter back in August, identifying the location as Seattle and the snake handler as a man who goes by @jonny.snakes on Instagram.
And Redditors obviously appreciated the efforts as well.
“God bless snake guy,” wrote u/mother_superior_6.
“Faith in action,” added u/JFJinCO.
Meanwhile, u/Michelanvalo explained that “Snakes are the literal representation of Satan in the Bible. It’s the perfect weapon against a hardcore Christian crazy person.”
Most of us probably won’t have a snake handy the next time we encounter a street preacher raging about how everyone who doesn’t conform to his personal limited view of morality is going to burn for all of eternity, but on the off chance we do, now we know how to use it to maximum effect—as long as the snake stays safe!
