A TikTok featuring a nanny and her male employer “joking around” is raising some eyebrows amongst the childcare set, and also amongst parents who would never in a million years recreate the sexy dancing scene from Dirty Dancing with their employee.

In the clip, the nanny, Norton, is shown trying to lift Rachel’s husband, Andrew, as the kid and Rachel watch. Then Andrew tries to lift her over and over and over, his hands coming dangerously close to her breasts. At one point Rachel can be heard laughing and saying, “You touched her boobs!”

Michele Garza, who runs “The Best Loved Nanny” account, did a follow-up video about why she shared it, and why she thinks it’s not an okay scene. Though Rachel and Norton have made several clips about why they’re all a family and everything is chill, Garza thinks it’s easy for nannies to get caught up in the family dynamic and forget what’s okay to do and not do:
“With the video, I don’t think that anything has actually gone wrong, I just think that it has started to blur the lines,” she said.
Since attracting so much disapproving attention, Rachel has posted numerous TikToks as rebuttals to the internet’s accusations of inappropriateness, even including Norton in some of them—though they have since gone private.
In one, Rachel says that Norton and Andrew are friends and used to see each other every day during pandemic quarantine.
“On the rare occasion she does see him, they’re so happy to see each other, because she’s like our little sister,” Rachel said. “We love her to death. She’s really goofy and weird and we can joke around and mess with her, and vice versa.”
“When she dates and makes bad decisions on other things, we give her advice. We tell her we’re disappointed in her, we tell her we’re proud of her,” she added.
Rachel asked people to stop slandering Norton and her relationship with the family. “She’s a godsend to our family and people are attacking her like she’s some sort of slut,” she said.

That is unfair to Norton, but when this many people are reacting to your content in a particular way, it’s something to think about.
