The 20-year-old announced on Saturday that she had given birth to her first child with boyfriend Dawson Day. “Emersyn is here!” she wrote on Instagram. “Link in bio for more exclusive pics!”
The “exclusive pics” were ultimately hidden behind a paywall, where Laverne charged fans $15 to look at pictures of her baby.

The immediate exploitation of her newborn for profit didn’t sit well with a lot of people.

Others defended her decision, saying that it’s just smart business, or that she’s “protecting” her baby by limiting who can see the photos — because apparently, the idea of just not posting photographs of your newborn online has just never occurred to some people.
Some even tried to compare Laverne’s decision to real celebrities selling photos of their babies to magazines for lots of money, although that was historically often done to circumvent paparazzi who would get the photos anyway, prior to a 2013 California law that made things more difficult.
Ultimately, she wound up posting some photos of the child on Instagram — free of charge.
“Of course I wouldn’t keep some of my other favorite photos from my fandom and am so excited to introduce you to Emersyn!” she wrote, adding that she “will be uploading a story time soon on the entire situation.”
Laverne previously stirred up controversy after a video circulated last year of her kissing a 13-year-old fan when she was 19. She later claimed she “caught feelings” for him and denied grooming him or being in a relationship with him.
