No one takes more abuse in retail than the people who have to work customer service and deal with returns. Particularly when it comes to nationwide franchises, employees’ hands are often tied when it comes to store policy, and that’s rarely something a frustrated customer wants to hear.

One customer at a Tennessee Walgreens decided to take her ire out on two managers after being told that her item absolutely could not be returned.

The interaction was captured by @monstabumpkinhighkey, who later shared the video to TikTok.

In it, a woman appears to be attempting to return a prepaid bank card of some sort. The recording starts after she’s already explained to the managers that there is some sort of defect with the card itself, which they acknowledge. However, just about every store that sells prepaid and gift cards has a no return policy on them, and Walgreens is no exception.

One of the apologetic managers tries to give her a number to call for a company connected to the card, but the woman doesn’t want to hear it.

“I want my money back from Walgreens because Walgreens is the one that sold it to me,” she insists.

“Ma’am, there is nothing I can do,” the employee replies.

The customer taps her foot and stews silently for a moment before asking for a manager, only to be told that both of the people standing in front of her are actually managers themselves.

In response, the woman violently wrenches the card out of the manager’s hand, calls her a “f—king b*tch” and storms off. “Have a good night!” the manager calls after her.

Any sympathy people watching on TikTok may have felt for the customer evaporated as she continued to mistreat an employee who remained calm and polite when faced with verbal abuse.

“There is no reason ppl working in customer service deserve to be treated that type [of] way,” wrote @acayla. “It sucks that this is normalized and companies don’t care.”

“And America wonders why so many ppl don’t want to work retail anymore. The decline in the past ten yrs of how the public treat workers is terrible,” another added.

But the decline in patience for people who act like this is also waning, as evidenced by the endless social media callouts of Karens we’ve seen in the past year and a half. And the way they often seem to be variations on the same kind of person hasn’t been lost on people either.

“She’ll be right back to church on Sunday singing her little songs about love and forgiveness,” one viewer theorized.
