A Dunkin Donuts worker went on a well-earned rant while sharing his mediocre paycheck on TikTok.

@scorchedearthcorey had had enough of customers making his life more difficult, and told viewers that the trade off wasn’t worth it considering how little he gets paid.

“I just want you to look at this, because for some reason, some people think that other people are there to entertain them in their lives, which is complete ridiculous[ness] and bullsh*t,” he said.

On the screen was his paycheck, which specified that he makes $12.00 an hour, worked 72.94 hours during the last pay period of presumably two weeks, making his total pay — BEFORE taxes — a whopping $875.28.

“This is what I made. This right here. Do you think my 73 hours of f—king misery and bullsh*t, you should come and try to bother me more?” he asked. “People think customer service is end all be all — let me explain something to you.

“I do not get paid enough to listen to you. I do not get paid enough to take your bs. I do not get paid enough for you to try to treat me like I’m there for your entertainment. So yes, I will cuss you out and find a new job, because that number is attainable anywhere.”

While the TikToker was focused on how his low wages meant he wasn’t going to put up with unnecessary stress from customers to avoid getting fired, and said nothing in the video about how he couldn’t live off that money, it still immediately brought out the people who think service workers don’t deserve a living wage.

“I mean go into a trade or go to college,” one oblivious viewer wrote. “Dunkin isn’t meant for a wage to live off of. Want more money? Learn a trade.”

Neither that viewer nor any of the others saying similar things bothered to explain how someone who doesn’t even make a living wage can simultaneously afford to pay for schooling of any kind, but logic has never been on the side of the argument regardless.

Others were more frustrated with what they saw.

“This kind of pay should not exist for anyone, how is a 72 hr work week only worth 875?” asked @metallicaoptimism.

“These ‘unskilled labor’ jobs are literally what’s keeping our economy afloat,” @mnmblez said. “Yet y’all shame them everyday.”

“It’s ‘find a better job’ until nobody wants to do these sorts of jobs and now you can’t go out and get food anywhere,” @limitlesssynthesis added.

In a follow-up video, @scorchedearthcorey rebutted the unhelpful responses to his initial post, explaining that he had job troubles during the pandemic and is currently working two jobs to support himself, pay child support, and learn a trade.

“I have goals, I have dreams, none of you know me,” he said. “But I’m sure there are way too many Republicans on TikTok, so I guess there’s that.”
