A woman living outside the U.S. says she’s being hounded by family for kicking her pregnant sister out of the house even though the sister had nowhere to go. That sounds petty bad, but the twists and turns in this story will have you screaming “GET OUT” at this vulnerable pregnant woman, too.

The OP, posting under the handle u/throwdog1111, says her sister was kicked out of her boyfriend’s house and she is the only person in the country that her sister had to turn to. But then just a couple of months later, it turned out her sister was pregnant and she would soon be housing two people. That’s when things started to get weird:

One day she started to complain about my dog (A beautiful 2 years old half husky) and how it would be bad for her baby and that she wouldn’t raise her kid with a “wild animal” around. (My dog is a total sweetheart) I told her it was my house and if she was not comfortable here, she could leave and my dog was staying no matter what, she kept complaining but i wouldn’t change my mind.

About two weeks ago i had to travel for work to a remote location for a few days, when I came back my dog was not home and my sister claimed she had no idea where it was. We got into a fight because I didn’t believe her.

The OP went and questioned the neighbors, who said they’d seen the sister take the husky somewhere a few days ago. She realized her sister might have used her Uber account to take the dog somewhere “because she’s broke,” and when she checked there was a strange trip to the other side of the city.

I drove all the way over there and after asking around I found my dog in a street restaurant, the owner took him after a “blonde pregnant woman” left him leashed to a fence… I ended up explaining the situation, paying him like 500 bucks and i got my dog back.

When I went back home I kicked out my sister, I gave her enough money for a week in a hotel and sent her on her merry way, she made a huge scandal and I admit I was a bit too forceful but i was furious.

She called all my family and friends and they’re all telling me I’m an asshole for picking my dog over my sister and that I should take her back, that i should value that unborn baby more than a silly animal.

I think my dog is more important and what my sister did is unforgivable but I’ll accept your judgement.

The comments were firmly on the OP’s side. The sister not only stole her dog, but she also left it to die somewhere across town chained to a fence. It’s only by luck that the OP was able to find the dog in a relatively safe place.

The OP eventually wrote a long update explaining she never suspected her sister would do something like this. And she was grateful to all the commenters who told her that her response was appropriate.

“She’s not EVER living with me again, I’m going no contact with everyone who sided with her,” she wrote. “Yes I explained my pov but i come from a very conservative family that ‘values human life above all,’ I’ve been drilled this in my head my whole life so it was hard to know if i was making the right choice (which now seems obvious).”
